A Nightmare on Elm street 2010 based on a 1984 movie; Same story, a not so good Freddy character, lame new young actors.
Death at a funeral 2010 based on a 2007 movie; Just moved the story from a white family to a
black afro-american family.
Toy Story 3 2010 a 3D version of a 1995 movie; Haven’t seen it yet but this one might just be decent enough because Pixar is known for good animations and if it is 3D then it must be good.
Shrek forever after 2010 based on a 2001 movie; Donkey is pretty much always funny for me but enough is enough already. Plus the story line was a bit obvious and predictable.
The A-Team 2010 based on a 1983 series; As a fan of the series i appreciated the fact that i finally got why they were on the run in the series. I laughed my ass of during the whole movie just because of how exaggerated all the scenes were. If you want to laugh this it the movie to see.
The karate kid 2010 based on a 1984 movie; Have not seen it and i am not planning on seeing it. After 4 other karate kid movies i’ve had enough.
Prince of Persia 2010 based in a 1989 video game; I did play the game but i enjoyed the movie because it really had a bit of good acting in it and i liked the way it was made.
Sex and the City 2 2010 based on a 1998 series; It was pretty nice, a lot of product placement though and a new Arab setting. And a nice view on relationships in the end – at least one i totally agree with.
Robin Hood 2010 based on a 1991 movie; Kind of nice – i like Russell Crowe. But for me There is only one Robin and that in Kevin Costner.
Clash of the Titans 2010 based on a 1981 movie; Nice visual effects and a bit of Greek mythology for todays youth. But nothing more than that.
And coming out soon are:
MacGruber 2010 based on a 1985 series – MacGyver; They didn’t even bother to pay the copyright fee in order to preserve the name. Definitely not planning to see it.
Survival of the Dead 2010 based on several movies starting with Night of the Living Dead 1968 and going on with Dawn of the Dead 1978, Day of the Dead 1985 and Land of the Dead 2005. Somebody on IMDB said “it missed the story and the vibe”. That’s enough for me.
The only new movie i have seen lately that came with a new story was I love you Phillip Morris. And apparently even this was based on a true story. Awesome comedy though.
So, are all the writers in Hollywood on a sabbatical this year or did they just run out of ideas?
